
The Telugu dubbed version was titled Dhoolpet. The film, about a young man's journey from street urchin to gangster received critical acclaim, with Dhanush's performance receiving especial praise. In 2006, Dhanush worked under his brother in their gangster film Pudhupettai. Later, it was dubbed into Telugu, and in the same year, he also worked on Balu Mahendra's Adhu Oru Kana Kaalam.
